What Are Agile Methodologies?

By Josue Carrión

What Are Agile Methodologies?

Have you ever wondered what agile methodologies are? The reason for this question tends to be quite varied — and in some cases, simply curiosity.

A methodology is a series of research and work processes designed to achieve the result of a project, and by agility we mean the most efficient way to achieve a result or reach a goal.

An agile methodology is practically the same thing — it is a strategy for achieving a result more quickly and with a better outcome, or at least the desired one.

Where can we use agile methodology?
This type of strategy is found in organizations, group work, and projects. It primarily focuses on the following points:

  • effectiveness in the development of work
  • teamwork
  • satisfaction for third parties (clients, partners, etc.)
  • reduction of costs and budgets

Kanban methodology?

Kanban, as we mentioned previously, is divided into 2 Japanese kanji

  • kan, meaning visual
  • ban, meaning card

Agile methodologies are the best way to get started, as they are based on visual cards, idealized around 4 points:

  1. Start with what you do now.
  2. Commit to pursuing and implementing incremental and evolutionary changes.
  3. Respect current processes, responsibilities, and roles.
  4. Encourage leadership at all levels.

Now that you understand this type of strategy, all that is left is to put it into practice and start your projects.
